National Export Sales Diploma

Who would benefit most:

Experienced export sales professionals who travel overseas to negotiate and win orders, and seek a national recognition of their skills.

The Diploma course comprises:

  • The four day National Export Sales Certificate course – waived for delegates having passed this in the previous 5 years
  • Delegates must complete project work typically requiring three days at home/work
  • The Diploma assessment takes place over five days predominantly in a residential hotel
  • Day one comprises company and product familiarisation and export sales training revision of key topics
  • Days two to four, a 72 hour period of delegates working independently in the hotel, prioritising and responding to overseas enquiries, producing costed quotations, and negotiating with overseas buyers, to maximise the export orders won during three long and demanding days.
  • Day five comprises delegate presentations in the morning and Diploma course results in the afternoon, prior to departure.

Delegates must provide confirmation of their success in personally travelling overseas, negotiating and winning export orders for at least three years, with outline details of two significant orders that they personally won or had a major part in negotiating. The statement to be endorsed by their CEO, MD, Export Sales or Sales Director as accurate, and may be subject to verification by Export Sales Training.

This is a demanding course and requires successful delegates to be able to work long days, as if overseas on a demanding schedule – people with medical conditions or prone to migraines should not apply. The Export Sales Office Diploma could be a better alternative.

Benefits for delegates:

  • National recognition for outstanding export sales professionals with real skills and the determination to succeed
  • Good knowledge in many key export sales skills including costing and preparing professional quotations
  • Understanding how to enter new markets, find buyers, and work with representatives to maximise sales
  • A good understanding of negotiating techniques of both buyers and sellers, and the selling sequence
  • A proven ability to negotiate successfully with buyers and win good orders even when under pressure
  • Greater confidence in preparing for, and negotiating with, overseas buyers for export orders
  • Greater motivation and company loyalty for their investment in raising skills and confidence
